Friday Fun – Gel Nail Manicure @ Home

I must admit that I do love having my nails done, especially if I am doing a presentation.  However, I do not enjoy the amount of time it takes and often find myself thinking of all of the other things I should be doing.  Plus, the expense bi-weekly can certainly add up.

I have tried doing it myself with several brands and I have a UV light with the real gel polish, but both are disappointing.  The gel polish without the light seems to last less than a week.  The gel with light definitely lasts, but it is a pain to try to take it off and I am afraid I will damage my nails.

Recently, I tried Essie Gel Couture and was pleasantly surprised by the results.  It went on easily and I only had to use one coat of this particular shade.  I then topped it with the Essie Gel Couture Top Coat polish.  It looked really nice and with the wide brush, it went on smoothly.

You can find this polish at many locations.  I picked mine up from Kohl’s because they had buy 1 get 1 1/2 off and you can stack the discount codes on top of it.  So I purchased the polish and the topper.  My Kohl’s had it in stock so I was able to buy online and then go to the store and pick it up.  It has been a week now and it still looks as good as the first day I did them.

The color I purchased was Showroom for One and it has a blue/grey tint or a denim color.  I really like it as it seems to go with almost everything.  I definitely plan to pick up a few more colors since I like to change often, but it will still be cheaper than going to the salon every couple of weeks.  I will save the salon visit for special occasions.
